if their relationship hadn't gone down the road it... had, robert would honestly think that eiki is an upstanding person. she's righteous, moral, independent, polite, well-spoken... the list goes on. if she's hardworking as well (i assume she is, though i'm canonblind) she would basically be his ideal woman. THAT WAS SO AWKWARD TO TYPE, YOU HAVE NO IDEA...

unfortunately, robert's morals =/= society's standard moral values; mostly in regards to murder. considering that's basically what he... does, there's the first problem, which ends up igniting a chain of ugly feelings from there on out. and despite his insecurities, robert also thinks he's an upstanding person. imagine that!! so, being told he's not, and what he thinks as condescension to such an extent, really really rubs him the wrong way. it takes very little to set him off to extremes. complicate the fact that she's his wife's boss, and then he basically feels like he's trapped in between a rock and a hard place. one he setup all on his own. which translates to, 'wow i can't shoot this person or eiki will get mad and komachi will be punished and she'll be mad too and everything will suck...'
