[There's no avoiding the smell of burning baked goods even out in the hallway. Ranka is on her way past the home ec room when the smell stops her in her tracks. A baking project that was forgotten maybe? She'd honestly expected to be one of the last people in the building.

Opening the door proves that there's at least one other student around, but it seems pretty clear she needs a helping hand. Walking over to the worrying girl, Ranka helpfully locates and then holds out a pair of oven mitts.]

If you take them out now maybe we can still save them. It's worth a try!

[She doesn't have enough information to figure out why they're burning just yet, but that can be determined after they're taken out of the heat.]

[Definitely not a forgotten project! Just an inexperienced baker. But at the sound of the door opening, Euphie jolts to attention, very worried that a teacher would be questioning her for this. At the sight of Ranka though, she lets out a little relieved sigh. Better another student than someone who could reprimand her.]

R-Right!

[Hurriedly and a little unceremoniously, she takes the oven mitts and opens the oven, unleashing a wave of smoke from the appliance. Waving a hand around and retrieving the muffin tray, she coughs quite a bit but can't see the state of the muffins. Unfortunately, they're burnt and blackened and may be unsavagable.]

They certainly don't smell very pleasant...

[With the oven door open, the smell of burnt baked goods is that much stronger and Ranka takes a small step back in surprise. Even her hair responds, the ends flying up and out in line with her reaction. Yeah, those were probably beyond saving.]

Maybe they'll taste better than they look?

[Even as she says this, she knows it's futile but it's not like she can just outright compare them to charcoal, that'd be mean!]

What were you trying to make? Maybe if we work together we can figure out what went wrong.

[Euphie sighs, catching Ranka's response out of the corner of her eye. How would they even fix this?]

Perhaps, but we have to wait until they cool down. [Considering that they were still smoking a bit, she doesn't want anyone to get any burns while eating something awful.]

Blueberry muffins. The recipe seemed simple enough, but I'll admit, I haven't bake a lot of foods before.

While they're cooling down maybe we can try again? If we work together we might be able to figure out what went wrong last time.

[While she's not the most amazing cook ever, Ranka is fairly sell sufficient when it comes to household things. Her brother tries, but there's only so much he can do.]
