[ Guess who just so happened to bear witness to that appalling display. Lucina clears her throat quietly—not enough to be obnoxious or ironic, just quietly enough to make herself noticed. She glances down at the spat out mess at her feet and back up. ]

I think pigs are a bit less messy. [ Frowning. Gaius saying no to something sweet? Madness. ] Is it really that bad?

[cassonade]

[gaius is making the worst, scrunched-up expression when he turns around to meet whoever's coughing behind him. he was trying to suck the taste from his tongue...

oh. when did the little princess get here? that's kind of embarrassing. gaius swallows and relaxes his cheeks.]

It's horrid. [he takes off a piece of it, sets it on a napkin nearby, and offers it to her.] Here, try it. You'll see.

[(and if she does try it, minus a few minuscule issues, it's really not that bad at all.)]

[ Forgive her if she doesn't immediately reach for it—she may be a little suspicious of the overreaction, but she's even more suspicious that it might actually be completely nasty. Or poisoned. That could also be a thing. ]

I'm not so sure I want to eat something that's "horrid"...

[ Eventually, though, she reaches to slide the napkin over to her and, barring anyone staring, gives it an uneasy sniff first. ...but not a taste. Not yet. ]

Chocolate. Rarest of the rare back at home, and they've got it all over here. [wrinkling his nose.] They made it into a cake with fudge and fruit filling on the inside. If you can even call it that. [motherfucking disgrace]

Oh... that doesn't sound so bad.

[ It actually sounds fantastic, is what. With that in mind she's a little more heartened to give it a try and takes a careful bite that ends up being basically half of it. Chewing slowly, waiting for something horrid to happen............. ]

[ ...and swallowing. ]

That was—delicious! A little rich, I guess... [ aka she can't find any major fault with it. ]

Wrong. [WRONG WRONG WRONG.] The chocolate flavor was hardly dense enough. You use dark chocolate with raspberries, first of all. And do you taste that in the filling? They used liquor to cook it. Not only that, but their raspberries aren't fresh. That's not what raspberries are supposed to taste like. [they might have been frozen, tbh, which isn't bad. unless you're gaius.]

In other words, a lot of smaller issues that could have been solved easily.
