[It's bizarre for her to be back at school. She hadn't stepped foot in one since she had been sent away to Deadman Wonderland and teaching herself things wasn't the same as being in a classroom. So waking up here, and suddenly being told that she had to go to school and had to play along with the Landlord's fucked up game of family hadn't exactly gone over well with her- not that she could have verbally shown or expressed it.

Had she expected to go back? Not really. Did she want to? That was nobody's fucking business. Her mood was sour when she's given a task by her teacher to deliver papers to the principal's office but she doesn't notice the girl rounding the corner. Papers fly from her hands and You stupid, fucking cunt -! was almost out of her lips when she catches herself.

If she wanted to have the town eating out of the palm of her hand, she'd have to play the part.]

O-oh! I'm fine but are you? [Time to cue the watery eyes.] I didn't even see you, I'm so, so sorry!

[mirai gasps when the papers fall to the floor, looking extremely apologetic.]

I'm okay! Really, it's okay! I'm really sorry, let me help you.

[mirai is really hoping this girl doesn't start crying because she really wouldn't know what to do if she did, so instead of standing there awkwardly, she falls to her knees to help gather the papers back together again.]

You really don't have to, I mean I wasn't watching where I was going. [Her hands flutter like the hummingbird they named her after but it's all for show. It's not like Minatsuk is actually panicked about this. She goes down to kneel down beside the other girl, slim fingers clutching at the papers that are within her reach but really waiting for her to do most of the leg work.]

I-I think so? They may have been in alphabetical order but I'm not sure. My teacher just handed them to me and told me to deliver them. [A distressed look passes over her face and her voice chokes up just enough so that it isn't overkill.] What if it's wrong? He's going to get so angry at me.

[just as minatsuki suggests that they may have been in alphabetical order, mirai begins to look them over quickly and rearrange them as fast as she can. if this girl gets in trouble for being late, she'll feel bad about it, moreso than she already does.]

I don't think so. If he is, you can blame me. It's not like they can do much to us, anyway.

[She gives her a weepy little nod, brown eyes watching from under her bangs and simply watching as the other girl shuffled all the papers together for her. A horrified little gasp leaves her mouth as she looks up then at what Mirai says.]

I couldn't do that! That wouldn't be fair.

[But she was right. It wasn't like those stupid teachers could do anything anyway. She'd slice them into tiny pathetic ribbons before they'd even think about punishing her. And besides, detention was laughable compared to the things she had lost at Deadman Wonderland.]

[aaand there it is, all the papers are in alphabetical order. if it were up to mirai, she would have numbered them all, too, but she hasn't got a pen. with her bandaged hand, she hands the stack back to minatsuki.]

Here, all done.

I wasn't paying attention either. I couldn't let you take all the blame.

[But a watery smile flutters onto her lips as she accepts the stack, and takes it from the other girl shifting them in her arms.]

Thank you. [And then she notices the bandaged hand, which only prompts her to widen her eyes and ask:] Are you okay? That wasn't from just now, was it?

[mirai glances down, retracting her hand and hiding it in the pocket of her sweater.]

Oh! N-No! It's nothing--

[she's doesn't even realize she's reaching for her glasses and attempting to clean them as she speaks]

I dropped a plate and cut myself while I was picking it up.

[It was almost laughable about how bad of a liar this chick was, but whatever. It wasn't like it was any of her concern. Minatsuki was easily able to turn the twitch of her lips into a concerned twist.]

That's horrible. I'm a little clumsy too but I hope that it heals soon. You should make sure to take care of it- the last thing you want is it to get infected.

[in fact, mirai wasn't even sure if she even had the cut there anymore. ever since she arrived, everything seemed ... normal. and she really, really liked that. it was incredible. no youmu, no danger, no one trying to kill her.]
