FINAL FANTASY IV

So, if you've played Dissidia you might know Cecil Harvey, FF4's main character. He starts the game as a character who has done Some Pretty Crappy Things -- in fact, that's how we first meet him. He later becomes the sparkling princess we all know and love.

His love interest, Rosa Farrell is a white mage that uses bows and arrows and can actually do pretty dang good damage with it. She is graceful, willful, and sometimes simultaneoulsy cute and smarmy. They are pretty much how all FF romances should go.

Their best friend (who you may also know from Dissidia) is Kain Highwind, who is a Dragoon and sounds like Batman. He also has The Struggle much like Cecil does and is a very honorable and prideful man. He's also a bit of a jerk and has something of a sarcastic sense of humor.

The final party member is the ninja prince of Eblan Edward "Edge" Geraldine. He is an idiot. There are, in fact, none of these things in this dungeon. He's hot-headed, a flirt, and something of a jerkass. But easily knocked down a peg or two.

A non-permanent party member is the prince of Damcyan, Edward Chris von Muir (he is a spoony bard). His special ability is to sing songs and hide and he tends to trip and fall. He's a bit of a weenie, but he's got a heart of gold.

Final Fantasy IV is a game you likely will only appreciate if you've played the older FF games because it's so full of tropes before they were tropes. IV is considered the standard to which all traditional JRPGs have followed.

There are many different versions, each with its own merits; the PSP and GBA ones have dialogue and information about Kain's past that they ditched from the DS/IOS/Android versions, but the latter is much more attractive to look at and overall has better dialogue and a better translation. The encounter rate on the PSP and GBA one is also maddening. The DS(/IOS/Android) one is my version of choice. Please note that the caps are from the more polished IOS/Android version and the DS one isn't quite as clean, but the cutscenes still look good!

If this doesn't sell you, at one point in the game, your party is a bunch of old men in colorful get-ups... and Cecil.

ENABLE ME: CLANNAD AND/OR SCOTT PILGRIM

Door number one is Kotomi Ichinose from KyoAni/Key series Clannad. She's a shy, slightly socially inept girl genius who, say it with me, has a tragic backstory. Behind her shy and awkward demeanor, she's a very sweet girl who takes a lot of time to open up. Also her skill with the violin is deadly.

Door number two on the other hand is Kim Pine from the Scott Pilgrim graphic novel. She's a misanthropic side character who's always on hand to make snarky comments. She also takes awhile to get along with people, but her problem had more to do with contempt.

I had been planning on and have stuff mostly ready for Kotomi, but some muses never die and it wouldn't be too difficult to canon review for Kim. I'm working on a move atm, so apping one this round would be preferable but not impossible. And if I don't do one this month I'll likely do them next month. So have at it~

FINAL FANTASY VIII

Final Fantasy VIII is stupid and doesn't make sense and after the first disc is like they got together a bunch of people to write fanfic about the first disc.

I love it.

Anyway, you should app Irvine Kinneas. He isn't a cowboy and is lady's man and something of a loser who occasionally says something surprisingly meaningful. We could have a rad bromance.

You should also app Laguna Loire. He is a huge embarrassment and the most perfect soul to have ever graced fiction. He is also kind of a loser. He is secretly idolized by Seifer for his role in a movie as a knight (to the extent he copied how he holds his weapon in it) and also has something of a fan club via Selphie and the rest of the gals. Also, hot old dude, if you go that route.

For some reason gifs of Zell don't seem to want to load on imgur for me, but just pretend there is one of Selphie and Quistis beating him until he stops choking here. He is HOT-BLOODED AND EXCITABLE!!! Also thankfully they brought this back.

RANMA ½

Scientists work hard and long on the mysteries of the universe. What is the meaning of life? Why do sharks explode? But most importantly, scientists are still working on the ultimate question: "Just how many goddamn characters are in Ranma ½ anyway?!"

The answer is many! For example, the series protag, Ranma Saotome. He's a man who, on occasion, transforms and becomes a girl when splashed with cold water. This wouldn't be the case here and he'd be pretty thrilled. He's also kind of an arrogant awful jerk and he makes fun of poor Ryoga. He's a pretty good fighter though, and he's got a kickin' rad pigtail.

Ranma's love interest and the female lead would be one Akane Tendo. Contrary to popular belief, she's a really nice girl, who's kind and polite to others, except when they're irritating and... well, Ranma. Like Ranma, she's pretty decent at fighting and awful at cooking and swimming. Also, Ryoga likes her. Quite a bit.

Ranma's love story doesn't just end with Akane, however. There's also Shampoo, an Amazon that originally wanted him dead, but now wants everyone who wants Ranma dead. Why is that? Why, because after guy Ranma defeated her, she fell in love with him! She also turns into a cat when splashed with cold water.

Speaking of love interests, there's also Master Okonomiyaki Chef, Ukyo Kuonji, Ranma's childhood friend. She's a neat girl from Osaka and just sorta wants everyone to step aside so she and Ranma can get married and settle down and start a nice Okonomiyaki shop. She also manages to rope Ryoga along in schemes to get Ranma and Akane to split. They don't work out.

And finally, Miss Long Shot, Ryoga's girlfriend Akari Unryu. She loooooves pigs. Ryoga is a pig. Therefore, she loves Ryoga. She's kind and patient enough to stick around him through the worst.

Ranma's a fairly long canon, but I can certainly help out with picking out important storylines from the manga to read and get a handle on the characters, since it's mainly comprised of stories and there isn't exactly a timeline. BE CAREFUL WHEN WATCHING THE ANIME, as it usually is not nearly as good as the manga and some of the characters wind up a little overexaggerated.

One of those two guys may be joining the community next month:

The first one is basically my main muse: Phoenix Ikki from Saint Seiya, a manga/anime which I bet many of you have never heard of because it's old as time and its popularity was very centered in specific places. Though there's currently a new anime of it which you all should watch, just saying. Ikki is a grumpy, constantly angry guy who would fill an Adult Slot who has never had a "normal" and "peaceful" life. Seriously, Holly Heights would be a 180º change from his life until now which makes it both a challenge and something exciting because Ikki will be forced to come to terms with things he hasn't had the time to and it may prove or disprove if he's right when he claims that he can't never have a normal life anymore.

He won't like to be here, he will hate to be powerless, and he will want to burn the whole place down to try to kill the landlord but since he will be powerless and such he won't be able to. To provoke a fire through normal means would make it too easy to be stopped after all. Deep inside all that anger and hate, though, lays a quite decent guy with his own sense of justice but with good morals who will take time to warm up to anyone, but once he does will protect them from anything and everything. He's also kind of hot and not just because the phoenix thing.

The second one is Yoh Asakura from Shaman King, he will be manga based which must be noted because there's a huge difference between the manga and the anime unfortunately. Now, Yoh is a pretty nice guy, who will feel a Child Slot and is always smiling and happy, trying his best to be positive... He loves to relax and have a peaceful time, his dream is exactly that, a life without problems and relax all day. He's also pretty optimistic and firmly believes that "everything is going to be fine". He's also a shaman and is more used to be around shamans or spirits than normal humans, he's engaged to a wonderful and loving girl... Okay, maybe not so much, but he loves her dearly, and she loves him -really-, so who cares? He's also (spoilers) going to be a father in a matter of months at the tender age of 15-16 (/spoilers).

Given his character he will take being locked here pretty easily since it allows him to have the relaxed and kind of peaceful life he wants to have, will accept the idea of an assigned family without complaints and will do his best to just enjoy himself here and help around the house. Deep down, though... He's going to hate being here with a burning passion, he's going to despise being without his powers and being forced to be around humans so much without being able to have even shikigamis with him, because actually he is actually a pretty good actor, no really he is, that link is from the previous to last chapter in the manga. Shaman King, the one series where you don't come to understand the main character until the end of it.

It's pretty probable that I will end with both of them in Holly Heights besides Sena but I'm trying to decide which one app first, both have potential and present a challenge each in their own way.

Larry Butz would be spectacular too. Make HH all smelly and I bet he'd be super happy to have his own wife. And he would love to see his best friends for sure. AND WHY DON'T WE HAVE TRUCY YET I WANT TO KNOW. OR A KRISTOPH? WHO AM I KIDDING any AA person would be amazing.
