[He points up and steps closer with a smirk.]

You might not be so lucky to wind up with such a handsome guy the next time someone spots you under that.

[Eyebrow waggle.]

[ all of this is lost on haruichi at first--he's been minding his own business leaning on a doorframe and watching the party around them--and he stares at the guy who has just walked up for a moment, blinking behind his bangs. you can almost see the visible question mark.

handsome guy? under...

tipping his head up, haruichi notices the mistletoe exactly three seconds too late and bobbles the drink in his hand, letting out an-- ] Ah-! [ as he realizes exactly how he's been, uh, caught. instantly turning as pink as his hair, haruichi raises a hand in defense. ] Oh, um, sorry, I'll, um--

[ and as he goes to take a step back... he can't move. ] H-hey...

[Man, that reaction is the CUTEST. Naruko can't help that his smirk turns into a wide smile in response. Holy cow, what a cutie! He reaches out to grab Haruichi's shoulders lightly, not realizing that the other had stopped already because they were trapped here.]

Hey, hey, it's okay. I'm not gonna do anything bad. It's just a tradition, right? No big deal or anything!

[ oh--haruichi doesn't flinch away from the hands on his shoulders but they definitely startle him a little bit, and he looks at the guy from under his fringe, his cheeks starting to shift from pink to bright red as he puts together all the pieces. the landlord has done some weird things in his time here, so magic cursed mistletoe is definitely not out of the question.

two: naruko says 'tradition' and haruichi realizes exactly how to get out of this predicament, which sort of makes him want to die and mostly makes him hate the landlord a little tiny bit more today. ]

It's-- [ god his knees are going to give out from all the blood rushing to his head any second ]--um, I think we have to...

[!! Oh gosh... 'we have to'... that goes straight to Naruko's nether regions heart and he winds up blushing a little. This cutie is so embarrassed, but so forward! How could he NOT kiss something so adorable??]

O-okay. It'll be quick. Promise.

[Hopefully not too quick. He breathes in slowly, and then leans in quickly to press his lips against Haruichi's... before he can lose the nerve!!

[Naruko leans further in for a kiss, closer, closer, too close - but before they make contact, a level voice drifts between the two. Soft, menacing.]

Only one thing will be quick, and it won't have anything to do with kissing.

[ is haruichi really ready to kiss this person? he sort of knows naruko, he's showed up to baseball practice a few times, and he likes him okay, but kissing? he gave up his first kiss already, but that felt different considering he barely remembers it and this would be--!!

but, before it even happens, there's an Ominous Voice, stage left. haruichi jumps back. ] --Aniki!!

[ he sounds a little relieved. oh thank god ;A; ]

[!!! Nooooo, he was SO CLOSE!! Naruko looks up, hands still on Haruichi's shoulders and...

...oh god, he's going to die, isn't he?]

...h-hey, she said we have to, so... so why not??

[OH NO HE'S GIVEN HIMSELF AWAY.]

[For someone who's caught some loud upstart in a compromising situation with his little brother, Ryousuke's expression remains frighteningly calm.]

Oh? I've never been much for rules or simple superstitions as these. [and yet, he smiles.] Particularly when they involve Haruichi.

[Naruko is on the verge of freaking out here, PLEASE DON'T KILL HIM??]

Are you sure you're not just putting words into people's mouths?

[No one's putting anything into anyone's mouth.]

[surprise small pink, here's slightly smaller pink! she looks surprised at the sight of the mistletoe, but the shock melts into a soft blush and a smile.]

Ah, Haruicchin! [she points upwards and laughs.] Looks like we've been caught!

[ The thing about being short is that you generally have to look up a lot, but Chiyo always has a nicer time talking to Haruichi because she doesn't have to crane her neck quite as much as she usually does. That also means that she doesn't see any mistletoe appear above them, so when she throws out her arm in a particularly wide gesture (talking about how amazing she thought Haruichi was because she saw some of his batting practice the other day), she's stunned when it hits an invisible wall. ]

[ it was easy enough to seek out chiyo to chat with at this party--haruichi's really fond of his friend and finds her easy to talk to, even if she's currently being a little embarrassing with her compliments. he's about to deny what she's saying, it's just practice, and i'm not really good, i'm working on it, but the abrupt stop catches his attention too. ]

Ah--are you okay, Chiyo-chan? [ he watches her hand hit off the wall with minor confusion from behind his bangs, and then reaches out to do the same: sure enough, his hand is stopped before he can reach past it. haruichi frowns, trying to figure out what the cause could be, and he looks left, right...and then up.

...oh.

instantly, haruichi starts to color red, from his cheeks across his nose and down his face slowly. ] Um...Chiyo-chan. [ gestures...up ]

[admiringly]

[ Would you be a regular at Seido if you weren't good, Haruichi? would have been Chiyo's rebuttal. All she wants is to instill a little effusive honesty in his life. It's a consequence of being friends with her.

She follows his gesture, and her face matches his in seconds. She's bright with embarrassment and covers her face after emitting a tiny squeak. She doesn't have the longest bangs, but her hands work just as well. ]

W-We're stuck because of it, aren't we...? U-Um...

[ On one hand, she doesn't mind being stuck with Haruichi. On the other hand, she doesn't want to confine the both of them to that one spot forever. But a kiss... ]

Wh-what should we do?
