Ah, the shameless (shameful?) classic. Happy holidays, Holly Heights.



How it works:
➜ Your character is going about their business when suddenly... oop, mistletoe.
➜ Double oop, someone else walked under at the same time.
➜ Maybe this is usual mistletoe and they can just joke about it and awkwardly shuffle off.
➜ Oooooor maybe it's cursed mistletoe and they can't leave until they kiss each other.
➜ Good luck with that!

[ It's harmless affection, but it really is strange to feel Aoyagi's lips against his cheek. It wasn't something he was going to start doing out of the blue, but it wasn't terrible, really. They kissed each other and nothing's changed. It didn't make them different people. That's really what mattered.

Teshima almost forgets to step back in how he was watching Aoyagi lean away from him. Shaking his head, he finally stepped to the side and...

Success! That was close. He could definitely hear his heart start to beat faster as he tried to step out of the way. That's one bullet successfully dodged. Right? ..Yeah. Right.]

I can move again! That was close. For a moment I thought it was going to keep pushing.

[silentwheel]

[ Aoyagi let out a similar sigh of relief. He moved back, creating some distance between the two of them and getting him out from under the sprig of mistletoe.

He had to admit, some part of him was actually a little disappointed that they were free, but the vast majority of Aoyagi was smothering that bit of him under a pile of pillows and telling him to shut up. Teshima was his friend he wasn't going to mess that up by some non-chaste kiss on any other part of his body. ]

[ While Aoyagi was having an inner battle with parts of him that may or may not want to kiss Teshima more, Teshima was watching him for a clue about where his headspace was. For once, he actually had no idea what was going on with Aoyagi, and that was strange. Was the kiss more worrying for him than he thought it was? It worried him a bit, but he choose to think he was just over thinking it all. Aoyagi's probably just relieved it was over.]

You okay now that we can move? [ He couldn't step back in to check on him without damning himself again. ]

[silentwheel]

[ the concern tugged a smile out of the corner of Aoyagi's lips. Yeah he was fine, there was no need to worry about that, but something about Teshima's attitude made Aoyagi wonder if Teshima was okay.

He tilted his head curiously at his friend, pointing a finger at him as if to ask "are you okay?" without actually saying it. Maybe Aoyagi was the one who'd been too worried about the kiss. ]

[karaokeking]

I'm just fine.

[ The smile was good to see. Teshima took a couple of steps forward to clear the mistletoe before he turned back to him. ]

Do you think there's going to be more of that around the town? It's going to be hard to dodge.

[silentwheel]

[ Aoyagi shrugged. He moved to walk beside Teshima again. Honestly he had no idea if there was going to be anymore of those magical sprigs floating around town or not.

He looked up, trying to keep an eye out for anymore mistletoe and wondering if this next time they'd get so lucky as to get away with a kiss on the cheek. ]

[karaokeking]

Can you imagine wat it would be like if we were caught with anyone else? [ Thinking about it like that he's happy it was Aoyagi, really. Just imagining any of the others... ]

What if one of us were caught with Tadokoro-san? Or Imaizumi? ... Or Naruko.

[ Naruko's name, of course, was spoken like a curse. He could imagine Naruko's having fun with this stuff for sure, but sometimes mistakes happened. ]

[silentwheel]

[ Aoyagi made a face. Kissing Imaizumi or Naruko really didn't sound like a good idea. Either of them would be far too noisy and uptight about the whole thing. Tadokoro-san might not be too bad...it'd be like a kiss between relatives right? Not that their culture really did that but Aoyagi had heard of it and surely it wasn't that strange right?

What caught Aoyagi's attention was the way Teshima had said Naruko's name. Was he jealous or something? He couldn't be angry with Naruko was he? Aoyagi couldn't help but remember that Teshima was from further along their future than he was. Had something happened to make Teshima angry with Naruko? ]

[karaokeking]

It's nothing that serious. The thought of being caught with him is just more odd than the others.

If anything I was getting worried about him at home. All of the first years were hit hard by the departure of the third years. They know it's their job to fill in the spots left by them if we're going to have a chance at the next Interhigh.

I've started helping Onoda, but Naruko is that type of guy who's going to end up finding his own answer in his own time.

[ How and when is the question. And then there was Imaizumi. That guy was the special one of the three. It's always Imaizumi. ]

[silentwheel]

[ Aoyagi gave Teshima a reassuring smile. He put a hand gently on Teshima's shoulder offering support. He was sure that the first years would find their way. It had taken Teshima and Aoyagi a year and then some to get where they were, it was understandable the first years would have a lot of work of their own to do. The downside was of course that with the third years gone their team was essentially starting fresh and with a title to protect. That was a lot of pressure to put on the first years.

Out of all of them Aoyagi was sure Naruko would push through. He was very persistent and Aoyagi would make it a point to help pull him along and challenge him. That's what Aoyagi needed to do once they got back home. Onoda could probably depend on Teshima to help pull him along. He had a lot of potential and still more room to grow, but Imaizumi...Imaizumi was their ace if not their captain and he was in a weird niche of being good and yet not good enough. There were definitely stronger bikers out there and Imaizumi had to find his own strength some how. ]

[karaokeking]

Yeah, I figured you'd understand. It's a lot of pressure on us too, you know. We're going to be the new defending third years. We're going to be looked at to maintain the crown the third years handed to us.

[ Teshima knew Aoyagi could push though. Aoyagi wasn't like he was. If anyone could succeed Tadokoro-san, it would be him. With the three first years and Aoyagi it would be hard enough, but then there was himself and the final member they have to find.

In the end he hummed, thinking further on Aoyagi's thoughts.]

Imaizumi's also going to have to learn to work with the new team.

[silentwheel]

[ New team...That was a good point. He brought up his fingers, counting out each of the members of Sohoku he would have put on the team. He, Teshima, Imaizumi, Onoda, Naruko....there was at least 1 missing if they wanted a six man team. Who was their sixth? One of the other second years? Were they ready? No way it could be...No...there was no way... ]

[karaokeking]

I don't really know, but...

[ he reached over to Aoyagi's hand and put away one of the count to leave it at four. He wasn't looking at Aoyagi, looking forward with a pleasantly calm expression. ]

We'll need our climber, sprinter, and our ace. You're for sure the other sprinter, but as for me...

If I'm good enough to enter those numbers is something we'll still have to see.

[silentwheel]

[ Aoyagi's troubled expression didn't get any better. That Teshima wouldn't include himself in that lineup was troubling at best. He was the captain, of course he would ride with them. How could he not? That seemed unheard of.

He shook his head and held up one finger. He pointed it at Teshima, and then at himself and changed it not from one finger, but to two. If Teshima didn't ride then there was no way Aoyagi was riding. They were a team of two no matter what. They'd both worked hard to get where they were, and Aoyagi refused to see Teshima give up so easily. If Teshima wasn't going to believe in himself, then Aoyagi would just have to do it for him. ]

[karaokeking]

The truth of the situation can't be denied. Of that collective, I'd be the weakest.

Of course, that doesn't mean I'm going to just resign something like this over to someone else. Tadokoro-san entrusted us with his will, and I wouldn't leave you to take all of that on by yourself. I'll be working to improve enough to be someone deserving of a Sohoku number.

[ Teshima takes the position of 'average' well, he thinks. It's not something to be ashamed of. If someone talented wants to try and replace him, it better be prepared to fight him for it. ]

You wanna call this one done? I have a feeling this will come up actually in game at some point XD

[ That made Aoyagi smile. He'd hate to see the day Teshima just rolled over and accepted defeat.

He put his hand in a fist over his own heart first and then touched it to Teshima's chest. They both had Tadokoro's will and they would both carry it in the next Inter High, of that Aoyagi was sure. ]

Yup ....it sure will......

[karaokeking]

As long as we don't hit any more mistletoe on the way we'll be alright.

[ He laughed, but he was entirely serious about the mistletoe thing. It was embarrassing. ]
