Even I have trouble believing that an entire community of people will allow themselves to be caged in and forced to play house. Perhaps suburban enslavement just comes more naturally to some of us than others. [Her tone is light, but her casual demeanor doesn't quite reach her eyes.]

Zinnias. [She doesn't even really look up.] They bloom through the autumn.

Those ones are super colorful, aren't they? Really bright and pretty! [He takes another look at the tiny sprouts.] I can't wait to see them bloom!

I suppose anyone can appreciate them on that level...

People are happy to use a lovelier flower, since they enjoy seeing it on their windowsill as a prop, but... Something less visually pleasing is often quick to be disregarded and snuffed out.

Huh? That sounds mean! Those flowers shouldn't be disregarded. All flowers are pretty. And they need all the attention they can get.
