[The pet store is definitely not really of interest to Chris, but he still can't help but glance inside every now and then when he passes. It's just one of those things that reminds him of his brothers...

So he probably shouldn't be surprised to see one of them in there. He's definitely not surprised when he steps inside and sees exactly what sort of animals Thomas is looking at, though. He'd always been so fond of their dog, while they still had one...

Chris hesitates before actually walking over to him--he's always a little unsure of how to deal with Thomas and maybe Thomas wouldn't want him around anyway--but no, things are never going to get better between them if neither of them tries. So eventually he walks over to stand next to him and look over the puppies himself.]

Have you found one you like yet?

[Thomas throws a quick glance over his shoulder, just a little wary, just a little guarded, because he isn't really sure if he wants Chris around for this himself either. For all that their revenge plans are trashed and the Arclight family working on becoming just that again, he still can't help the lingering resentment he feels towards Chris, even if he's starting to get past that. Mostly. He's trying to anyways.

This is more important than provoking an argument with his brother though, more important than any snappish reply that he maybe only half means for the sake of being obnoxious, and that's why he turns back to the cages with a shake of his head.]

I only just started looking.

[It's just a few minutes after that, that he spots a very bright White Shepherd puppy barking up to him from one of the lower cages, pressing its nose against the cage to the outside and a moment later he's already crouching down and pulling off his right hand glove to carefully press his hand against the cage door so that the puppy can sniff at it, grinning at the certainly nostalgic feel of a cold, wet nose against his skin. Looks like they just might have found a winner!]

[Oh good, Thomas wasn't going to run him off. That's encouraging. Obnoxious as he can be sometimes, Chris doesn't particularly like fighting with his brother, especially when it's just out of the blue without any provocation that he's aware of (not that it ever seemed to matter to Thomas, as he seemed able to find fault with anything he felt like).

Not that he personally has much interest in looking for a dog, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if Thomas had decided he didn't want company. But it is nice watching Thomas doing something that makes him genuinely happy (there hasn't been enough of that in any of their lives, really). And somehow, he isn't surprised that a puppy that looks quite a bit like their old dog is the one that Thomas ends up most interested in.]
