[Chris hesitates because they're going to be late but eventually steps inside to help him figure this out. Honestly, Michael looks fine, but if he's really worried about it, then he should at least try to help.]

It's just different. I never realised I was flamboyant. Well, in this way?

[Chris very nearly chuckles at that.] I said formal, not flamboyant. Like you might be going to a private school. Mr. Heartland [can't quite keep from practically sneering that name] was flamboyant.

You look fine, Michael. Very handsome. I'm sure you'll make a good impression on your teachers.

( he takes that all in a for a moment, compliments and mentions of that man all together. )

You're a teacher there, yeah? So, good, because I need to make a good impression. Otherwise you'd know! Seems a bit unfair--but, I think you won't have anything to worry about. I don't want anyone to give you a hard time because of me. ( or vice versa, but that is kinda implied )

[Oh, so that was what this was about. Chris shakes his head and gently ruffles Michael's hair a bit.]

If anyone tries it, they're going to sorely wish they hadn't. [And not just because he'd make them regret it, but he also doubts Michael would sit back and take it if someone tried giving him or his brothers a hard time. Ultimately, Chris isn't really worried about that.]

And I know that if I did hear anything bad about you, it would be a sign that there's something you need to talk about, not that I should be embarrassed. [small smile] If you hear anything bad about me, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm not exactly used to this teaching thing yet.

Yes. ( it is simple as that, and maybe the one little word is--who knows, ominous? god save the fool who messes with this family. still, he may feel good from the comfort he can derive from the fact that Chris will protect him. maybe even from himself, now. )

No, not yet. [Not that he would really care if anyone did, other than to fix whatever it was he might be doing wrong.] But I haven't been working there long either.
