( well, harassment is harassment, and humiliation is humiliation, right? though of course it's not quite that easy, and he's never had to deal with it himself. also, for everything that's been shared with him, you can bet that his brothers have shielded from a whole slew of other things.

the word humiliation really bothers him, though, and he's not very good at hiding it. the whole thing has him ruffled. he would ask her if she's asked Ryouga for help. but. well, frankly, he can understand why she wouldn't. pride and other gross things. )

In a manner of speaking, yes. It isn't a thing so much as an... incident.

[She doesn't seem too inclined to say what exactly the "incident" is, though. If she talked, it may as well be that she was releasing the damned tape to the entire public.]

Unfortunately, I can only drag Ryouga into it for so long before he begins to complain... [A pause to assess.] Hm? You almost look as though it was you who had someone hanging something over your head, III.

Ah, I'm sorry, Rio-san. This kind of thing--I really don't understand it. But, whatever it is she has on you, I don't think the answer is submission. Your brother ought to be helping you. ( and, wow, if he didn't mean to butt in, it certainly doesn't matter now that he's done the thing. )

[She's very quick to respond to that suggestion.]

I don't need his help. I can take care of it just fine on my own.

[Rio makes a face -- submission, is it...? True enough, it is a gaping hole in her defenses she needs to patch somehow or other.] It's not that I've given up, it's that I need to lay low and figure out just how to take back the evidence. If I must stoop so low as to steal it away from her, then so be it, but it may be easier to pretend to be subservient to make her drop her guard first.

Is she careless? People who have the foresight to get blackmail--it seems tricky.

I understand, but... [She bites her lip and looks away for a moment.] If he jumps in to try and help me, he'll also be putting himself at risk. She can blackmail me all she likes, but if Ryouga gets ensnared as well, I won't be as forgiving. If possible, I'd like to avoid it.

[But as for III's question... that one gives her pause. Is she? Rio isn't sure.] I'm inclined to say not under normal circumstances, but... if she can be caught off-guard, then perhaps...

No ideas, just some whimsical notions.

( he laughs, but then tilts his head. ) Really? There really must be something on that tape for her to keep it that closely guarded. Is it a love confession?

It's something horrible, that's all. Telling you would be almost as bad as letting you listen to it for yourself, neither of which I am about to do. Don't think you'll get a free pass to it just because you're humoring me.

I suppose because she is a very manipulative, if unfortunate, human being.

[Somehow, it doesn't seem like Rio is truly angry, just... frustrated and stressed. On the other hand, she did have quite a lot of nerve to actually tape the session right under her nose...]

I have no better explanation. Either way, I'll surely figure something out... there must be a way to distract her for long enough to find it.
