[makoto's cat has gone missing.]

[it's not expressly rin's fault, but he had noticed that the door had been left open after they had visited, which means (without pointing fingers) that it's probably FUCKING NAGISA'S fault]

[but he's not pointing fingers]

[flash forward to now, trawling the streets for a small, white kitten, who don't need no man]

Here... Supun-chan... Supuuuun-chan...

[this feels ridiculous, but honestly, he's... pretty worried about that damn cat]

[The funny thing is, Rin almost manages to slide by completely unnoticed by Rei, who has still clung to his odd habit of reading as he walks-- at least when he doesn't have company, anyway, he's not that rude.

The voice, however, he can't ignore, though it's in a much softer register than what he's used to hearing.]

Rin-san? [He narrows his eyes almost out of instinct, as though that could help him make sure he wasn't seeing things.] What are you doing?

[And, more importantly, who the hell is Sepun-chan?]

[the redhead jerks to a stop; Ryugazaki Rei wasn't maybe the last person on earth he'd want to hear him calling softly after a lost kitten (that was Haru, who would stare at him silently but be laughing so loudly in his eyes Rin would get an actual headache), but]

Tsh--! [Rei does a double-take, his face growing visibly indignant at Rin's response. See, this is what he gets for trying to help!]

I'm not going to be hit by any cars, I don't rely on my sight alone! [His tone is just a little louder, although he soon manages to regain his composure by shifting the focus of this conversation.] And you haven't answered my question, either.

[gnasher]

[Rin snorts]

Yeah, obviously you can't rely on sight alone.

[on account of your LAME GLASSES and everything]

[but the older boy realises, on some level, that this is not helpful to finding the lost kitten, and before Rei can get worked up (and what exactly is that supposed to mean Rin-san!, spat like the first letter of each word was capitalised), Rin brings them back to business]

Makoto's cat got out. Supun-chan.

[Rei's response to that initial comment is simply a long, pointed stare. Honestly, his sight is not even as bad as, say, Rin's flawed sense of logic about everything ever, but he's not even going to deign that with an answer. It's just not worth his precious time.

The topic of Makoto's lost kitten, however, is something else entirely.]

Supun-chan, is it...? [He hooks a finger under his chin in thought, trying to remember any previous mentions of a cat owned by Makoto. Sadly, nothing came to mind.] What does it look like?

[gnasher]

Uh, she's white with -- wait.

[Rin digs in his pocket, taps a few times on the face of his phone. when he turns the phone to Rei, it's with a photo displayed on the screen]

She's a little bit bigger than this now, though, this is an older picture.

[nevermind the implication that Rin has saved older photos of Makoto's cat in his phone]

I checked around his house, and then I thought she might head towards where food is. I dunno.

[a mildly helpless shrug, though his face stays pretty stoic]
