Knowing that he wasn't military did put her at ease to some degree, though 'government' could mean many things. In this world or her own. Her guard wouldn't be let down, but he seems pleasant enough and that's really all she could ask for.

"Ah, that's not one I can answer for you." She turns minutely toward him out of politeness when she speaks.
