Oh, that's right! I'm Seto.

[He'd shake his hand or something, but both of them are occupied with the flyers. He makes do by stuffing his stack under his elbow for a second to thump Onoda on the back by way of greeting.] Good to meet ya!

[Then it's back to passing out flyers. Not that they're having much luck.] Huh... Everyone seems to be kinda too busy to take one.

[Thankfully Onoda's got a good grip on his flyers! He might have flinched a bit in his surprise, but that sort of back-patting reminds him of a few people back home. He looks back to Seto and gives a smile, nodding. He seems considerably more comfortable than he was at their initial meeting.] It's good to meet you too!

[But yeah, not much luck. Not that he'd expected much, but at least he made a friend? When the courtyard seems relatively cleared out, Onoda places his flyer back into his pile and gives a small sigh through his nose, though he still manages a smile. He pushes his stack back into the one in his bag and approaches Seto again, his hands extended.]

That's alright. Thank you for your help today, Seto-san.

Not at all!

[Seto managed to get rid of a few flyers at least, using the tried and true method of forcing them into the hands of anyone who so much as made eye contact with him. Otherwise...not much luck.]

Hey, you're welcome! Ah... I guess you could say you'll have a lot to start from the next time you advertise? [Even for him it's a little hard to put a positive spin on this.] Here ya go, you'll probably be wanting these back.

[uphill]

[Onoda isn't giving up that easily anyway! He gives him a nod and a bright smile.]

Right! Besides, I haven't hung these up in the school bulletin boards yet. I can do that tomorrow!

[He replaces Seto's stack with the other ones. But before they really get to say their goodbyes...] Seto-san, what grade are you in?

[That takes him a second. The numbering system is different here, anyway.] Eleventh, I think. Why d'you ask?

[uphill]

Ah, I see! I'm in... tenth? I think. So I suppose we wouldn't have any classes together... [He's not used to the grading system either. Watch him struggle and try to keep up conversation. He's trying so hard, and making friends in the bicycle club has helped him out of his shell a bit, but it's still difficult for him to make eye contact or speak without stumbling over his words.]

But, um, maybe I'll still see you in school sometimes? Since I'm new here, I don't know a lot of people aside from Makishima-san, and so I was hoping you and I, even if you're not in the bicycling club...? Maybe we could be friends? Is that weird to ask someone directly?

[saveshearts]

[On the contrary, at the mention of 'friends', Seto's eyes light up.]

Then it's decided! You and me are friends starting right now. [He's not so easy to get rid of, anyway.] Besides, just 'cause we're in different grades doesn't mean we won't see each other. We can eat lunch together or something. [Is that allowed? Heck if he knows.]

[He turns towards the school gates, but doesn't walk away quite yet.] Where d'you live? Might as well walk together.

[uphill]

[He agreed to it! A nice stranger agreed to be friends! ;_; Onoda is leveling up!! Once that happy shock wears off, he brightens like a Christmas tree. A tiny and messy-haired one, hunched into his shoulders but smiling.]

Yes! [...Even though Seto didn't even ask him a question. His cheeks burn a little] I mean, yeah, we should! I live in house number [insert here]!

[Shyly but happily, he'll take to Seto's side, readjusting his messenger bag straps and the cloth bag holding his flyers.] That isn't too far from where you live, is it?

Not at all!

[Well, he doesn't see how it could be. It's pretty exciting to think about how many new neighbors there are to meet and befriend now.]

You said you're new around here, right? Me too, actually.

[uphill]

You too? [He sets off beside him toward the residential gate.] Where are you from?

[He's heard plenty of interesting answers since he's arrived--people from countries and planets he's never heard of, people that are countries, people from the past, others from the future--hopefully asking where Seto is from isn't too broad of a question!]

[saveshearts]

[Unfortunately, Seto's not really one of those exciting ones. He laughs, knowing exactly why Onoda asks; He's met some interesting folks too so far!]

Kashiwa, Japan, so all this is a bit of a shock. How 'bout you?

[uphill]

[He doesn't need to be! Onoda himself isn't exciting at all; in fact, he's a little more excited to find someone ordinary.]

You're from Kashiwa? My high school is in Chiba too! Seto-kun, do you ever visit Akihabara?

[THE OTAKU HAVEN...]

Ehh... I've run some errands for a friend, but nothing too in depth...

[Oh, he's scaring him! Onoda immediately tones it down, withdrawing a bit into his shoulders. He makes an effort to speak more softly.]

Ah, I see! [If he's not an anime fan, Onoda won't embarrass himself anymore.] Do you like Kashiwa? Do you miss your home?

[saveshearts]

[One of his friends is a bit of a fujoshi. He's Seen Some Shit.]

It was real pretty, but it's nice here too. I haven't gotten to explore as much as I want to yet! How 'bout you?

[uphill]

[Oh lord. You picked a wrong friend in Onoda, Seto.]

I haven't been around here much either. I actually got lost in the shopping district the other day while looking for a bike shop! [He gives a soft, nervous laugh.] All of this is very confusing to me. I wish I could call my mom too...

[saveshearts]

[Well, Seto's certainly not going to judge him for getting lost.]

But I betcha found some cool new places too, right? [Reaches over to pat his back.] Kido and Kano told me time doesn't work the same way here, so she probably won't notice you're gone. You'll see her the second you go back or when she comes here!

[uphill]

Kido and Kano? [Ah, he's talking about his mom too.] I hope so! That's what I heard too. It's just going to be hard to live here without her. But are those your friends?

[saveshearts]

That's right! Well, more like my siblings-- huh, but can I really call Kido my sister at this point... [He'll have to think about that more.]

Anyway, they're my friends from back home. I should introduce you, they're pretty cool. [Hopefully they don't scare Onoda as much as they scare some of his friends...]

[uphill]

[Can he really call-?] If you think they're cool, I'd like to meet them! But Seto-kun, how can you not call someone your sister? [Or is this not a blood-related family?]

[saveshearts]

[Oh, oops, that really did sound a little suspicious.]

Ah! Well we're not exactly related, but we were in the same house for awhile. But here, Kano's still my 'brother', but Kido has a sister of her own! I guess the houses aren't quite big enough for us to all be together, or something.

[That's how he rationalizes it, anyway.]

[uphill]

So you were just close enough to be calling each other siblings. [Onoda beams.] It sounds nice, having friends you've been with for that long! Why did you live in the same house, though? Was it a boarding house?

[saveshearts]

[It is nice! Seto beams back, glad he understands.]

Well, first it was an orphanage, but later it was a proper house. And after that we got our own apartment, so we've been together in a lot of different places, actually!

[uphill]

So you all stuck together since then! [That sounds even nicer!

...Wait.] But you said you can't call one of your friends a sister anymore?

[saveshearts]

Well, she's not my sister in this place for some reason. [It might seem harsh, but his family has always been formed and reformed at the drop of a hat. Even if he's unsure if he can give Kido that particular title, he still considers her one of his closest friends.]

What about you? Didja get a new family too?
