[Ryouta doubles back, steps half out the front door, looks at the marquee, and brings the stack of resumes up in front of his face, bested.]

That's not right! I'm sure I didn't go to the wrong address...[That isn't very professional. He's mortified. Too bad a blush is more visible on skin than under feathers.] Erm...I wonder if the old place went out of business?

[When Kotori makes her offer, though, he lowers he papers and shakes his head emphatically.] Oh, no thanks! I don't want to inconvenience you while you're shopping! [Please, Kotori, you're a customer...] Besides, I don't have a lot of experience with human clothes or anything.

_{[ She nodded happily, hoping to help someone out in a fabric store since she did know a lot about stuff like this, but seeing how concerned he looked made her a bit concerned. ]}

Eh? Are you looking for another place...?

_{[ Kotori would try to help him if he was lost or something since she didn't want to see him distressed--maybe he was new? He didn't look familiar, but then again she didn't know quite that many people in Holly Heights to begin with. ]}

I'm just a rock dove, though. You could probably find more interesting birds to watch! Sorry for not being too exciting.

[He gets a little flushed when Kotori talks about the variation in rock dove appearances.]

Well, my last name is Kawara, but that's not uncommon... [Otherwise, it would be a pretty big coincidence to be a rock dove with a component 'rock dove" as a last name. They can't break the fabric of the universe by drawing attention to it!]

But I was telling the truth! I mean, I usually do! I'm really a bird, but everything was different when I woke up here...

This sounds exciting to her and she won't question him since she loves birds a whole lot anyway and meeting one that can talk and has a cute human form is really great! ]}

[When at first it seems like she might still not understand, Ryouta raises a quiet and quickly failing protest. He's used to this...maybe all human girls are so energetic. He's only ever known the one.]

Yup, been like that since I got here. It's nice to meet you, too, Miss Minami. I figured not everyone here would have been through the same stuff I went through. It'd be weirder if we were all birds! I think.

[But not all birds are the same, really...and he realizes, belated, that he shouldn't have assumed that Kotori's similarities to someone else suggested similarities between all teenage girls.]

I'm just hoping it doesn't get in the way of me getting hired, you know?
