I have this Apollo at route_29 and dog-boy Apollo (gotthescent) at theinstitute. I have BOTH the Apollos! I'M WINNING THE APOLLO COLLECTING CONTEST!

I have no idea what I'd do with him here anyways, other than confuse the hell out of people, and sadly I haven't been able to come up with anyone else to app here. I'm tempted to canon review and see if someone else pops out at me though.

I haven't met many people who know it either. Or who were happy with that part of Evol. /clings to OVA being separate universe and thus not affected by that retcon. CLINGS SO HARD

If nothing else I'll try and remember to watch for the fourth wall event here. I've wanted to see what would happen if the OVA and TV series Apollos ever met for a while now...

THAT PART BOTHERED ME FOR A WHILE but now I'm okay with it. There was a lot of foreshadowing when I look back, I just... wish Pollon was more of a character haha.

He walks out of a lake and right up to Silvia and Reika, then asks why they don't join him. Then Silvia tries to yell back at him and looks straight at his junk. Massive blushing ensues. All while "Prideful Apollo" plays. It looks like OVA!Apollo has no hang-ups about nudity. XD

I like the OVA, even though it beats you over the head with it's environmental message. You should give it a shot at least.

You mean "got more than 30 seconds screen time?" I've read that that plot was cut because it was too distracting from the main plot (that should have told them something). Other than Rena seeing Pollon howling in that one scene, what foreshadowing was there? I always assumed that Rena seeing him as an animal was a reflection of his personality. It seemed to have as much weight as the scene where she sees him as a kappa.

LMFAO OH GOD APOLLO NO... And I've seen most of it, I just somehow missed that part?! WHICH IS DEPRESSING

Off the top of my head, there's a scene where Silvia and Sofia talk about reincarnated memories after she and Apollo touched the feather, and there's a drawn-out explanation of why his memories might be fake, which seemed pointless until this plot twist. Plus, Apollo never actually seems to have any memories of being Apollonius, like towards the end when he's walking with Silvia - he doesn't answer her straight about remembering strolling together, but he said her scent was familiar. There's at least one official art of him with Pollon, too. But yeah, I read it was cut too. 8( I wish it wasn't if he was that set on using it...

That seemed like it was trying to create enough doubt to make the claim that Sirius was Solar Wing plausible, but I'll grant that it could be interpreted differently. Apollo only remembering her scent always seemed very Apollo to me, but the show seemed to be doing its best to keep the question up in the air past the point when it seemed obvious what was going on, so it seemed to fit in with everything else at the time, but again, I can grant that that could be interpreted differently.

What about when Rena sees Apollo become Apollonius in the second episode? The dialogue between Apollo and Silvia afterward could be explained away sort of (except that Seliane seemed to accept that at face value), but I'm not sure how to explain that transformation away.

What bugs me the most about it is how forced it seems. Sousei ended the story, we found out how all the reincarnations worked out, even all but explicitly stating that Fudo is Vector Mars's original pilot, and there's a slightly hopeful note that next time things will work out better. The twist at the end makes perfect sense too - you think back and remember when Toma used "Solar Wing" and when he used "Apollonius", and that line about "love is when you find a piece of your soul in someone else, but when you realize you can't have it it becomes hate" makes the Apollo X Silvia X Sirius dynamic take on a new meaning. Then Evol comes along and pulls out things that were so downplayed in Sousei that they barely existed, just for what seems like "we're in the home stretch and we need a twist, someone think of something". Fudo also seems like a dick for not just saying something and preventing the whole mess in the first place.

Basically, if it had been left more open-ended in Sousei I wouldn't be so angry with it, but I'm just left feeling like this was an asspull.

Does she see him become Apollonius? I don't remember... I'll have to watch it again. But yeah, I totally agree it seems forced, haha. 8( It really bugged the hell out of me for about a week after it was revealed. I eventually came to terms with it when I decided it didn't really change the theme/story the way I interpreted it (you can't let fate control you) or Apollo's character.

It's just... a stupid plot twist, lol. And yeah, it paints Fudo into a massive asshole. If Pollon had even 5 minutes more screentime, it would have been acceptable! But most people didn't know he existed. My friend thought they actually added him in for Evol haha. What I really want them to do is release an OVA about the Celiane/Apollonius/Pollon time period and that whole story - they could rescue it a bit that way.

I would be SO much angrier if it affected Apollo's character, but fortunately it doesn't. He can still claim to be Apollonius if he wants because from his point of view he remembered parts of Apollonius's life, even if the audience is told otherwise.

Pollon shows up in the OVA and gets those 5 minutes of screentime (which still don't make his feelings for Celiane any more apparent, other than that he flies up and licks her just like any other dog would), and he actually gets a name there. But I still cling to the OVA Apollo being Apollonius's reincarnation and Evol only wreaking the TV series.

I... don't really trust their ability to rescue this anymore. I'd love to see a compilation movie of Evol that doesn't have Pollon in it, not that that's likely to happen. A series of shorts where the characters just do random slice-of-life failings would work too, but... I don't really want this franchise to continue anymore. I don't trust them not to pull something like this again. This saddens me. Sousei I found to be poorly made from great parts, the characters being especially interesting to watch. Evol was more enjoyable to watch, yet I gradually stopped caring about the characters. I was really pumped at first, and it let me down. :(

I think you guys more or less covered everything about it. The only other "hint" I recall involved Rena seeing Fudo's energy as a pillar of light, but that could have just been something for the Lesson of the Day.

YES YOU CAN WITH YOUR COOLER REINCARNATION ACCOUNT. Seriously, I loved Amata at the start because he was so entertainingly fail and had the promise of a great character arc, but that kind of fizzled out by the end and he went all "Mikono-saaaaan". Kaguru was just entertaining throughout, aside from the massively OOC moment in the final episode. Maybe you see it differently since you play him, but I can't see him giving up on his wench that easily.

BUT ANYWAYS I think that was something for the Lesson of the Day, since everyone else was shown as triangles balancing on a point and the episode was about balance and stability. Except for Apollo being a kappa. XD A lot of the scenes that we're supposed to take as evidence are presented as having another explanation that makes more sense in their original context.

Really, if you end a series with all the lose ends tied up and don't announce a sequel for seven years, you're kind of expected to follow through with the explanations you originally gave.

NAH. I thought it was BS that he gave up like that. I liked the first 10-12 minutes of the final episode because it was fabulous but the last 13? Pretty much hated and didn't agree with. I would have preferred if Kagura and Amata merged into one person via Mikono's connection power. Leaving one out when they both loved her a ton (and tbh I never felt like Amata loved her as much as Kagura, if that makes sense?? His dealie seemed like an unfounded crush just because she was the first person to show interest in him. Which I guess does happen in real life. And then again you can say that Kagura just loved her because SILVIE, which I am still not sure if that is supposed to be because of Pollon/Apollo's residual feelings for Celiane/Silvia. If it is, it makes me more sad that he gave up. That aside, she was pretty much a bitch to Amata half the time and overreacted/was jealous everywhere. Amata/Zessica seemed more emotionally-stable).

tl;dr nah, I don't see it, but that's how it is. I guess we're supposed to believe that deep down Kagura is able to be more than selfish and give up his love for the sake of her happiness/for the sake of her having a potential happiness that is more than he can give. Since he gave her up because Amata loved Mikono whereas he loved "Silvie."

It probably was. Yep, pretty much!! I see where it could be either way and, after a while of being angry about the change, I find it hilarious because what the fuck Fudo. But it really makes more sense for Apollo to be Apollonius.
