[Guess who didn't even knock, but just opened the door and leaned back the door frame to watch the show for maybe like two minutes before he can't take it anymore, because sheesh Michael:]

You are being way too fussy about this.

[School isn't all that great, if stories are to be believes after all and in Thomas' most honest opinion, it's all a waste of time and he can't believe that he's being dragged into this too.]

( of course Michael knows that his brother simply isn't into this as much as him. not only is it a temperament difference, it is also an interest difference. and, well. Thomas has always been able to find better ways to use his time, when he wants to. at least that's what Michael thinks of it.

plus, when hasn't his brother given him a hard time?

he kind of just. scowls at Thomas. ) And you're not taking this serious enough. ( see how he doesn't deny it? ) It could be a nice opportunity.

[God knows what Thomas would do here, if given the time and freedom - though Michael is right, it would definitely be more use than school of all things.

( he doesn't roll his eyes back, but, whatever annoyance is really quite obvious in his body language. it's mostly just familiar, though, nothing that is really new or all that exciting. )

The learning's not really the point. We definitely learnt all of this stuff already. It's more about getting the chance to meet people our age for once, you know?

[Michael, Michael, trolling your own brother? Thomas should probably feel proud of sorts or something - these are the fruits of his own efforts and certainly proof that they won't have to worry about Michael ending up bullied or anything. He's mostly annoyed though. And muttering under his breath. Because honestly, who needs friends anyways, especially in a place where nobody duels.

(Not that they could duel right now given that that landlord bastard is still holding onto their decks, but this is a question of principle.)

But anyways, at least he's succeeded in making Michael stop fussing over his goddamn cloths.]

( sadly Michael understands that sentiment almost too well, he's still not over it and could talk for hours about his outrage and theories. he doesn't bother to ask what Thomas is muttering and is more concentrated on one last look. he is over himself, mostly.

but there is one last little thing. is he making himself vulnerable? who knows. and, in any case, showing that kind of thing is often a sign of trust. )

[Thomas will never be over it; not until his deck right where it belongs again. He has only just gotten his Numbers back after all, even if they are sort of on loan for the fight with the Barians, and there are several people here that he'd have a (friendly) score to settle.

At other times it would be a vulnerability and Thomas wouldn't hesitated to take advantage. There are however times that he's capable of being a (somewhat) proper older brother, even if his reassurance is sort of quiet and muttered and has a tiny side note of annoyance tagged to it.]

[He's just proven that he can hold his own, and if anyone takes objection over his cloths of all things, it's their loss anyways.]

( oh, and if having older brothers isn't his greatest privilege. he's a little kindred now, and so even though he knows other brothers their age don't engage in this kind of activity, not normally, he goes over and gives Thomas a proper hug.

but then he moves quick enough to hopefully avoid causing problems for himself. )

[Thomas stiffens just a little at first contact, he hadn't quite expected this even though he maybe should have seen the hug coming in hindsight. He smirks then though and turns while lifting one hand up right to Michael's head and unless he's really fast, Michael is going to get his hair ruffled, because that just seems to be the most appropriate big brother response Thomas can think of.
