[ miyuki cheerfully waves at the customer as they leave, before turning towards the shelves again. the little bookshop is chock full of fairy tale anthologies, picture books--everything miyuki has ever dreamed of reading. as a result, she jumped into helping. she's taking note of all the books now, before spotting someone lingering in the aisles. ]

Oh! Hi, hello! Are you looking for something? All the fairy tales in this section are super ultra happy!

[uphill]

[And poor Onoda is scared out of his wits. The book in his hand goes flying and his knee goes right into a shelf, knocking a good stack onto the ground.]

Ow, ow, ow! [That will probably bruise a little but MORE IMPORTANTLY Onoda drops to the ground and starts picking up those books!!]

I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!

[mirroromirror]

[ oops. she drops down, helping him pick up the books scattered on the carpet. ]

It's okay! I'm sorry for scaring you, I didn't mean to. [ peering at him, with a smile ] You were really into your book, weren't you?

[uphill]

[Onoda immediately stops his frantic endeavors when the girl kneels beside him. For a moment, he just looks back. She's not upset at all? She's apologizing? WAIT NO NO NO]

Oh- No, it's not that! I'm just really clumsy, you know? And I'm easy to scare, so you didn't do anything wrong! I should have been more aware! I was just looking because the cover of this one looked like something I've seen in one of my shows, and since I haven't found a place to buy DVDs, I figured- [RAMBLE RAMBLE RAMBLE until he catches himself.]

--Ah, I mean, I'm really sorry. I hope none of your books got damaged...

They're okay! Look, a little dust off, and they're back to normal. [ she blows a bit of dust off of a book, admires it, before looking back at the boy and outstretching her hand to help him back up. ]

[With the rest of the books gathered in his arms, he's careful to make sure none of the corners are bent before he notices her hand open before him. Then he looks up at her.

This girl is so nice ;_; She reminds him a lot of Kanzaki-san, the girl from back home. And she's even offering to help him! He carries the books tightly in one arm before taking hers and bringing himself to his feet.]

Um, thank you very much! [He bows a little!

And then she asks about his show.]

[...... He was actually looking at a copy of the Frog Prince and thinking that it was a lot like this one show where a thirteen year-old ballroom dancing student is actually a goose and has to collect parts of this boy's heart but there's actually another girl who-

ANYWAY he can't tell her that the show he was thinking of was an anime! That's so uncool, isn't it? And she doesn't want to hear him talk about anime! And she's a girl! And she's actually talking to him!!]

It's- It's a show I watched a long, long time ago! I can't even remember the title now, haha! [AWKWARD LAUGHING. He offers her the stack of books, his head bent downward.] I think these are all of them!

--oh! [ she puts her books on top and then takes them from him easily, giving a quiet huff as she goes and stacks them on another table, out of sight.

... and this is her coming back, and reaching her hand out for his again. ]

Thanks for helping pick them up. It might've been a mistake, but you don't work here, so you didn't have to do that. I'm Miyuki Hoshizora!

[Onoda does a slow walk of shame towards the door. He blew it. Why did he run his knee into the shelf? She was just offering him help. He just got so nervous and he didn't control himself. What would Kinjou say? Take a deep breath, Onoda. Take a deep breath and learn from your mistakes. He inhales deeply, exhales deeply.

But when he hears a voice behind him, he freezes where he is, pivoting backwards to see her hand outstretched. He blinks at it, wide-eyed and stunned, before meeting her eye again.

She really is as nice as Kanzaki! He's not used to shaking hands when greeting another person, but he can't just let her hand stay there with no response. Shyly and shakily, he smiles back as he takes her hand.]

S-Sakamichi Onoda! [He doesn't keep her hand for long, but he does gives it a friendly shake.] And I was the one who knocked the books over, so I should help pick up after my mess, right? It wasn't any trouble. It's nice to meet you, Hoshizora-san!

Did you just get here, too?

[ she lets her hand drop to her side, though she leans in a little. ]

I haven't even been here for a week. It's kind of strange, isn't it?

[uphill]

Me too! [He nods eagerly! He looks a little desperate to keep conversation going, but he thinks he's doing well?] I've only been here a few days. I'm still trying to get used to my new family and school, and I haven't found any channels that play my favorite anime on them-

[OH HE SAID THAT OUT LOUD.

He just looks down and uh. Clams up a bit. Is that sweat?]

[ a beat, as she brings her finger to her lips; ]

Me neither... one of my best friends showed me this great anime with robots, but I can't find it on television...

[A mecha anime? Does she...]

Do- Hoshizora-san, you like anime too?!

Of course! They've got really good stories!

[Okay, so she's not as enthusiastic as he is, but she likes anime! That makes two friends who like it! HE'S MAKING SO MANY ANIME FRIENDS HERE!! He beams too!]

Which kind of anime is your favorite?! Do you usually like mecha anime? I had a huge DVD and figuring collection back home! But with how things are here, I can't ask for the Landlord to bring them all, but we can talk about them! If you'd like! I don't mind!

Hmmm... [ she pauses to think for a moment. ] Yayoi showed me that anime... she wants to be a mangaka, and really loves manga and anime!

I like animes about fantasies and fairy tales. [ she can't help but have a really big smile. ] But exciting stuff, too! I'll watch anything if I'm interested!

What kind of animes do you like?

Your friend wants to be a mangaka? That'a amazing! I hope she gets to be one! I wish there was some way that I could read it...

[But ah, she asked him a question.]

I like all kinds! Exciting ones, like you said. I know of some that are based off of fairy tales too! My favorite anime is called Love Hime. [Said with a special sparkle in his eye.]

Love Hime is an incredible anime!

[He becomes surprisingly serious about this.] The protagonist Himeno Kotori-chan, with her sheep companion, must balance her training to become the greatest magical girl with her overwhelming feelings for Arimaru-kun! It's full of inspiration and the plot twists and character development are amazing! And the music- [He claps both hands to his cheeks. Excuse him a moment.]

Um... I wasn't looking for fairy tales, actually. [She hopes that isn't too disappointing. The girl seemed so excited...!] I was looking for something on gardening... I want to make sure I know all about the environmnt here before I try to grow something myself.
