KEEP ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN ROLLIN

HOW IT WORKS:
► STEP 1 | Post a comment with a character that's not in HH as if they're already in the setting; alternative version, post character who is in HH. Scenarios if you need 'em!
► STEP 2 | Tag around and get a feel for your characters, whether you're just voice testing or planning to actually app them in!
► STEP 3 | Post this all over your plurk and get people to join in on this jolly good fun. Don't forget: it's mandatory.
copypasta'd, I ain't original enough to make a new one.

"No one died, but there was potential, perhaps. At a certain point a path ceases to exist and you need to cut your way through. It's easy to get lost out there and, for that matter, I simply was not willing to let his stubbornness result in illness. You can always come back, you can't so easily heal damage that's been done." Which is to say that she looks out for her people, even if it means losing valuable information. "I suspect it is designed in a way to make it difficult to find him. For that matter, I have heard that any who have seen him in person cannot recall his face and immediately wake up in their homes like," holding a hand up, she lightly snaps her fingers through her gloves, "that, a blink of an eye and you're back home."

What she gave at least fit that last bit, as they were certainly not very good details. What little was there caused a frown, and his eyes cast about momentarily, before returning to Quistis. "I'm afraid you aren't making me very much more optimistic. Your words imply a gorgeous facade, but something far darker, or more mischievious, behind it."
no subject
"I apologize, but I would rather be straightforward and not glamorize the situation. It certainly doesn't quell any worries, but I do not think there is a... dark intent behind all of this." There have been dark things that have happened here, some of them even possibly under the landlord's orders? Influence? She isn't sure. "However, I don't think his goal is as simple as to make us all play house, either."
Her arms fold beneath her chest and while congenial this whole while, she takes a more serious edge to her expression and tone when she speaks. "Do you intend to introduce yourself?" While she doesn't mean to say it so harshly, it gives him the upper hand. She was doing the favor here; they should have even footing.

Still, scolding the woman for things she didn't know, although he would certainly be trying to find everything she did know, was of no use and would only earn him enemies, and right now he needed to keep less of those than more, at least until he figured out what was going on completely, or at least got a feel for the place beyond the handful of hours he'd been there.
A small smirk greeted her request. "Leon S. Kennedy. And you'll have to forgive me, I've become rather hesitant to just introduce myself randomly." And that was when it would matter; most zombies didn't give a shit about his name, and the other half the time, he seemed to keep meeting people who already knew him.

He couldn't really scold her without coming off as a hypocrite to her. They'd only just met, after all. "I see. Well, your name holds no meaning to me. If you were expecting a reaction, I do not have one." She brushes some hair out of her eyes with a tssk and something of a sigh.
"Of course, I also understand hesitancy even with people of authority. You never know who is doing something for the right reasons." She gestures vaguely at a few people walking around. "The way you know if someone came here in the same manner you did... the people around here who are "native" and sometimes referred to as "the landlord's people" by other residents, you will notice they don't seem to have anywhere to go and have no real personality. Like robots, almost. The seem to exist solely to man shops that aren't run by people like you and I."
She had theories, of course. But none that she could confirm or deny.

"As for authority, I'm afraid I've seen more than my fair share of people who claim it, but either can't handle it, or happen to be working for the wrong side; basically what you implied."
no subject
She understands his words well and uses it as a way to relate better. Hopefully, anyway. "Where I come from, there was a dictator that had gained power over the course of a few decades. I'm no stranger to corruption." However, she wasn't all good. "I feel it would be important for you to understand that despite my occupation here, where I come from I am a mercenary. While it does have a negative connotation in
most worlds, it does not in mine. Mostly, we protect. However, I have done things I am not proud of. I do not ask you to trust me implicitly, but I would rather people be aware of who I am than not."
Which, in a way, was reason enough to trust her. Or, at least give her a chance to be trusted.
no subject
"My hesitancy is for two reasons: I've got enough people who want to kill me and so I don't want to add my name to the lips of another person who might wish to later, and usually my audience happens to be living dead or brain-washed.
"As for mercenaries, I've known good and bad, so I refuse to judge until I know the actual character."
In some ways, he was a mercenary himself, although for the government; but if he'd ever said that, they probably would have been unamused. If he said what he honestly thought he was to the government, they definitely would have been unamused.

The real question is if she dips her hands in gleefully, puts on gloves, or has someone else do it for her.
"I can't say I'm particularly fond of either of those things." She means the latter half of what he was saying, of course. "Fair enough, but I also understand people who feel that there is never an option to do some of the things I have done. The only answer I can give as to why I have done them is because if I don't, others will have to." Despite everything, she loved to protect others. "If I don't take arm, it may breed another generation that will know nothing but war. With my actions, I hope to prevent that."
The idea of a world with no or little war, less monsters or just people who never were afraid to leave their homes. Children that wouldn't have to learn to wield a weapon to protect themselves as soon as they learn to walk. That's the world she fights for.

"But I didn't have a full choice to begin."
no subject
She wonders about his specific situation, but she won't pry. She wouldn't want someone doing that to her, either.
"If you are not busy, I'll treat you to something. Coffee or tea. Lunch, if you've not eaten. I'll tell you what I know -- or at least what comes to mind. I cannot promise you'll find any comfort in any of it or any use for the information." It would be nice if she could find use for it. Maybe given more time it would be a puzzle she could put together.

She begins down the street at a careful, languid pace and looks over her shoulder. "Well, then, please follow me. Cafes are quite popular with the people who are brought here, so there are several. If you see something you'd prefer, please feel free to enter and I will follow."
Now, where to begin? There are a lot of things that wouldn't even occur to someone to discuss. Maybe he'll ask a question that will push her in the right direction.
no subject
And that was probably the most he'd say on things for now, but it might give her an indication of why he might read as a mix of both, and why if she listened to him long enough it would become extremely obvious he wasn't exactly militarily trained. Sure, he'd taken some courses, they were useful and mandatory in some cases, but he was certainly not related to any branch whatsoever.
Not content to be lead, however, he moved to fall into step beside her, a gentle roll of his shoulders indicating he wasn't finicky about where they went. Tea or coffee was generally good, except when it was bad. "So why not tell me why it is I'm apparently married to someone woman I don't know whatsoever."
no subject
Knowing that he wasn't military did put her at ease to some degree, though 'government' could mean many things. In this world or her own. Her guard wouldn't be let down, but he seems pleasant enough and that's really all she could ask for.
"Ah, that's not one I can answer for you." She turns minutely toward him out of politeness when she speaks. "Some of us aren't married here or have been in the past and are reassigned or the people they're married to end up leaving. I spent a month without an assigned spouse, then I had one for... well, about five months. I haven't had one since. I have mixed feelings on it, but it is a nice break to not have to fight someone for the bed."
no subject
At the least, he was an attentive listener. "I see. Too bad I couldn't have the option to fly solo."
