[holy shit is this for real?] That sounds...really scary! I don't think I'd survive very long where you came from. I'd probably get eaten.

[She glances her co-worker over andt hen shakes her head,] No, I think you'd be okay. After the Wall was built there weren't many attacks.

[fujoshii]

W-well, then I guess the wall is doing its job! [she laughs nervously.] What kind of bears were they? Big brown bears, or black bears, or?

[lycoctonum]

I guess it is. [She does try to lighten her tone but... Ginko Yurishiro isn't really the most emotive person out there, as she probably knew by now.] Both brown and black bears. [She glances at the empty platter again.]

Have you ever heard of the Christian Crusades?

[Ginko wasn't really familiar with them, herself, but they were doing a course on them when she transferred to Arashigaoka.]

[It seemed like quite the change of pace, but at least it involved something she was familiar with.] Yes! The ones where the Roman Catholic Church set out to reclaimed Jerusalem, the Holy Land as dictated by their bible.

It's not exactly the same, the bear attacks, but it's similar to those Crusades. [Her voice grows even more serious, even for her.] The bears believe in a god, Lady Kumaria. The meteor shower was said to be a sign from her to attack the humans.

[And there goes any similarity she was grasping at.] The bears....believe in god. [Hato is staring at her, fork lifted half way to her face.] I...I didn't think bears had a high enough level of conciousness for that sort of thing.

The bears in my world might be more intelligent than bears of other worlds. [At least she's not claiming to be a bear. Right? That'd be crazy.] The Wall wouldn't be so complicated if it was designed to keep out unintelligent things.

[fujoshii]

[Okay, that's...a fair point.] We really do come from quite different places, don't we? [She sighs.] That sounds even more scary. It's bad enough if they're just big and strong, but for them to be really smart to is just too much.

[lycoctonum]

Though, if I'm honest, I'd be scared in a world with only humans that are smart. [She sighs, shaking her head.] They might not have teeth or claws like a bear but they can be just as bad. [She glances over at Hato's omurice.] ... Sorry. I must have ruined your appetite.

[fujoshii]

[This got really deep really fast. Her answer gives Hato pause again, and she sips from her drink to give her time to process.] That's a really good point. Humans can be awful, terrifying creatures. I don't want us to get eaten or hurt or anything, but...I think you're right. There has to be some sort of balance of power. [At Ginko's other words, she shakes her head and smiles.] Oh, no, not at all! I'm really happy to be learning more about you, Yurishiro-san.

I really have trouble thinking about it, myself. [She follows suit and takes a drink herself.] You are? I'm not that interesting.
