[He stops. There's a lot of reasons why he hasn't told him that. Selfish reasons and also because he does know that, well, this may be unfair to tell Lithuania. To lay that on him. He's learned a bit and he does know that these sort of things are kind of overwhelming.

So he leans away and then to the side, still blushing.]

I ate that dessert thing you made once.

[That's happened plenty of times and it isn't really a secret. Poland's always eating Lithuania's food.]

[ Consider him unimpressed and not even mad, I mean wow his secrets are actually better than this. ]

Aren't you usually the culprit when things I cook turn up missing? [ Who else is even going to eat them. ]

[paluszki]

[Poland sighs, getting back his embarrassment and then laughs as he shrugs.]

You didn't give me a good example!

[ If he is going to play the game why can't he just play it right? ]

A secret is something you haven't ever told anybody else. I never told anybody that.

Something that's actually a secret.

[ If they're playing the game, they are playing the game right. ]

[He stops to think about what could be a secret and frowns.] I don't have secrets.

[sakotis]

I don't either...why are we playing this one? [ Actually curious here. ]

[paluszki]

[He shrugs.] Thought it'd be fun? [He's been wrong before.]

[sakotis]

We can't really play a game about secrets if we don't have any. [ But he doesn't want to upset him and make him think he's just flat out unwilling. ] If you want to do something else, though, I have time!

[paluszki]

[He frowns at him because no. This is the game he chose and the game they're going to play.]

I like someone!

[...Oh, he just blurted that out.]

No I don't! I was kidding!

[sakotis]

[ His eyes widen if only for a second. That was really out of no where. And if there is one thing he could say he was extremely good at, it was catching Poland in a lie. At the same time, though, wouldn't he have noticed if Poland had liked someone? When you spend so much time with someone, don't you notice things like this? He stifles a laugh but fails, coming out surprisingly dry. ]

Really? That's wonderful. [ Except something about it really, really wasn't. ]</small

[paluszki]

[He knows at this point Lithuania won't believe him, but he's going to keep denying it. Honestly he hates himself just a bit for doing that.]

I don't! I totally don't!

[sakotis]

It's alright, Poland. I'm happy for you!

[ Which he is. What kind of best friend would he be if he wasn't supportive of him at times like these? But this meant so much. That things could change, things probably would change. The list of things cycles through his brain; he can't help it. Moving out, less time taken out of his day to deal with Poland and his house and his whims. That has to be a plus, right? It doesn't feel like it at all. ]

[paluszki]

[Poland frowns and then looks away, not bothering to argue anymore. He's happy about it. Of course there's no way Lithuania would know who he did like and so he knows that's safe. But that means Lithuania thinks he likes someone else and he's okay with that.

This isn't cool.]

Liet, I just...I just don't. They don't like me back, so I totally don't, okay? I'm really not crushing on anybody.

[sakotis]

[ That small twinge of happiness at those words makes him feel ever so guilty. But being supportive came first, no matter how guilty or sad or replaced he could ever feel about this. ]

Even if they don't like you back, you can't just give up. If you really like them, shouldn't you pursue them further?

[paluszki]

[He sighs and absent-mindedly plays with his hair.] No, they like someone else and they really wouldn't be interested in me like that anyway. It's not a big deal.

[sakotis]

[ He doesn't really know what to say. Part of him hates how obviously upset Poland is, and the other part is glad that things will stay the same. ]

I'm sure if it was meant to be, then it'll find a way to work itself out.

[paluszki]

[Now that's a little hard to hear because wow, that's what Poland tells himself all the time. But to hear Lithuania say it is just something else. He laughs and tries to change the subject.]

Gosh, Liet. You're making a bigger deal out of this than me.

[sakotis]

It's a big deal! [ He says a little more forcefully than intended, faltering. ] Love and caring about people are things that are important to everyone, right? So I'm happy you can feel things like that.

[paluszki]

[He doesn't seem too happy with that.] Uh, duh? I care about people! I care about Hungary and Italy, dude.

[sakotis]

[ Oh my god not Italy, why does Italy always come up. ] Well, I meant in a romantic way. Feeling like that is really wonderful, isn't it?

[ He speaks with first-hand experience in mind. ]

[paluszki]

[Him and Italy are bros. That's why. But he's still not happy with any of this.] Not really. [Not right now anyway and he's focusing on the now as always.]
