[just...keep calm, hato. it's fine. she takes the food and sets it down in front of the customer, bowing hurriedly before herding ginko out of sight.]

Because you have germs. And germs can be spread when you breathe that close to the food, especially with your nose. It's fine to smell your own food, but no one wants to have a stranger's germs on their food!

[Oh. Right. Germs were a thing, weren't they. Sometimes she forgot that not everyone had a tough stomach like her.]

It just smelled so good, I couldn't help myself...

[ah, she didn't mean to make her feel bad. hato reaches out, resting her hand on ginko's shoulder.]

It's okay! The food here does smell really good, doesn't it? Maybe we should take a break and get something to eat ourselves.

[lycoctonum]

[She does brighten at that.]

It does. I'd like that, yes.

[fujoshii]

[hato claps her hands and nods] Okay! Let me run to the kitchen and get something for us. What do you want?

I'd eat anything. It's all good.

Okay! Wait in the back room, I'll bring the food to you.

[well, that does make it a bit easier. hato hurries to the back, setting her tray down as she talks to the cook. omurice is easy and fast, so she gets two orders, waiting patiently for the plates to fill up. once done, she takes ginko's plate and adds two little mounds of rice above the large, egg covered one, making the head and ears of a bear. with ketchup, she draws the face on. perfect!

carrying both plates, she opens the door with her hip, sitting the bear omurice on the table in front of ginko.]

[She'll linger in the back room, wondering what goodies she'll get. Omurice? Well, sure! She'll take some of that--]

... It's cute.

Ah, I'm glad you like it! [hato looks a little embarassed.] Sometimes you give off a very....gwaor~ like aura! [as she speaks, she tilts her head to the side and hold her hands up like paws, making a scary expression like she's trying to look like a bear.] But it's a cute gwaor, not really scary at all.

[lycoctonum]

Do I? [She blinks at her.] I didn't think I did at all.

[fujoshii]

[oh no, was that the wrong thing to say?! she laughs nervously, an embarassed flush on her cheeks.] A-ah, just a little! You're so cute, it's hard not to attribute animal characteristics to you! [crap that probably sounds worse] I-I MEAN, THAT'S.....that's a good thing, I promise.

[lycoctonum]

[She stares, but probably not for the reason she thinks. She glances down at hte rice and back up at her.] It's just rare that anyone would think that bears are cute, from where I'm from. [She takes another greedy bite.] But I'm glad that you do, gau.

[fujoshii]

O-oh. [She lets out a relieved sigh, starting to dig into her own omurice now that her nerves have settled.] Bears are totally cute, though! Especially baby ones; they have such big paws, but their bodies are so small!

[lycoctonum]

[It took some getting used to, being in such a different place, but that was something she never thought she'd hear outside hushed whispers.] Cubs can be cute. [When they're not being bullies; though the same could be said of human children.] Though, like I said, nobody would dare say that back there. Bears weren't well liked.

[To say the nicest thing possible about it.]

[Hato hums in thought, her lips wrapped around her spoon. Her co-worker was a bit of an odd one, but the way she was speaking made it sound like the bears were vicious enemies, not creatures that kept their distance and were occasionally cute mascots.] What kind of place did you come from, Yurishiro-san?

[Ginko wasn't a smart person but there were some thins that she knew well; like the animosity between the two species.] Hm...a city near the Wall of Severance, the wall that seperates humans and bears. Though--you might not know what that is.

[fujoshii]

[you are absolutely right; she has no idea what you're talking about.] Um, I can't say I'm familiar with that. We don't really have a lot of...ominously named walls where I'm from.

[lycoctonum]

About eleven years ago, there was a meteor shower. After that? That's when the bears started attacking the human world. You know. The cities and things. They ate a lot of people. Eventually the Wall was built to prevent that from happening.

[fujoshii]

[holy shit is this for real?] That sounds...really scary! I don't think I'd survive very long where you came from. I'd probably get eaten.

[lycoctonum]

[She glances her co-worker over andt hen shakes her head,] No, I think you'd be okay. After the Wall was built there weren't many attacks.

[fujoshii]

W-well, then I guess the wall is doing its job! [she laughs nervously.] What kind of bears were they? Big brown bears, or black bears, or?

[lycoctonum]

I guess it is. [She does try to lighten her tone but... Ginko Yurishiro isn't really the most emotive person out there, as she probably knew by now.] Both brown and black bears. [She glances at the empty platter again.]

Have you ever heard of the Christian Crusades?

[Ginko wasn't really familiar with them, herself, but they were doing a course on them when she transferred to Arashigaoka.]

[It seemed like quite the change of pace, but at least it involved something she was familiar with.] Yes! The ones where the Roman Catholic Church set out to reclaimed Jerusalem, the Holy Land as dictated by their bible.

It's not exactly the same, the bear attacks, but it's similar to those Crusades. [Her voice grows even more serious, even for her.] The bears believe in a god, Lady Kumaria. The meteor shower was said to be a sign from her to attack the humans.

[fujoshii]

[And there goes any similarity she was grasping at.] The bears....believe in god. [Hato is staring at her, fork lifted half way to her face.] I...I didn't think bears had a high enough level of conciousness for that sort of thing.
